Bloomfield Chargers Defeat Troy High in Overtime!
In a game played on Saturday at The Troy Sports Center in Troy, the Bloomfield United Chargers defeated the Troy Colts in an overtime battle by a score of 5-4. The Chargers Assistant Captain Kevin Barnett scored the game winner at the 4:31 mark of OT.
In other scoring, the Chargers got on the board first at 11:19 of the first period with a goal scored by the Chargers Captain Chase Smith on an unassisted effort. Troy scored its first goal at 4:59 of the first with a goal scored by Nik Bester with an assist to Joel Brodzinski.
Connor Holman put the Chargers ahead in the first with a power play goal at :40. Kevin Barnett and Chase Smith got the assists. The Chargers scored again early in the second period with a goal from Ari Sternberg and an assist to Assistant Captain Bryan Keener at the 3:53 mark.
The Colts scored again at 2:47 of the second with an unassisted goal from Alex Jackovich.
In the third, Troy had 2 goals from Nik Bester to complete the hat trick. The assists went to Colin McLean, Alex Jackovich, and Joel Brodzinski.
The Chargers had third period goals from Chase Smith, with an assist to Kevin Barnett, and Barnett returned the favor with an assist to Chase Smith.
After the game, Bloomfield Head Coach Bruce McAlister said, “I continue to be impressed with this teams drive…we lost a lead, but came back strong in OT to win the game.”
The Chargers play their next league game on Wednesday December 5 against the Royal Oak Ravens at Royal Oak’s Lindell Arena.
