Cranbrook Lacrosse Claims Regional Championship
The Cranbrook-Kingswood boy's varsity lacrosse team claimed the 2012 regional title Saturday with a big win over East Grand Rapids High School in Haslett.
The Cranes used the combination of stingy defense, excellent goaltending, and team offense to shut down EGR and secure the championship 9-4 at rainy, windy Jamie Gent Stadium. Jeff Martin was strong in the faceoff circle, Ryan Clair was strong in the net, and the team secured most every groundball to control the play for most of the game.
The offense was well-balanced with Christopher Brown, Stephan Withrow, Matthew Giampetroni, Taylor Ghesquire, and Jeff Martin helping the Cranes score enough to send the Cranes to the State Semi Finals next Wednesday.
