Lahser Tops Andover in Soccer 2-0, Retains Axe

The Lahser and Andover Men's soccer teams met Thursday night at Lahser for the final "Battle for the Axe".

It was a special night, complete with large student sections from both schools, the Lahser Varsity cheerleading squad and Lahser Marching Band drumline. After a scoreless first half, Lahser senior Kristian Rego blasted a shot off a pass by junior Ethan Garcia.  Senior Connaugh McLaughlin scored the second goal, on an assist by junior Soros Ashley.

Lahser goalie Logan McDonald recorded three saves, and Andover goalie Griffin Hamel tallied seven saves. Lahser's record stands at 8-6-3. At the end of the game, both teams came together as one for photos.  Lahser captains Kristian Rego and Brett Wietecha then passed the axe to Lahser juniors Soros Ashley, Eesh Dadheech, Trevor Drew, Ethan Garcia, Logan McDonald, Jack Ramonat, Conor Wahl and Keegan Waid. Lahser and Andover will unite next year as Bloomfield Hills High School.
