Radio Students Attend Broadcasting Career Builder Conference in Lansing
Twenty-five Bloomfield Hills School District broadcasting students attended the 7th Annual Broadcasting Career Builder Conference (BCBC) held at Lansing Community College West Campus, November 9, 2012. BCBC was presented by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation (MABF) and offered informational sessions for high school and college broadcasters who may be interested in pursuing a career in the broadcast industry.
Attending the conference along with WBFH Station Manager Pete Bowers and Assistant Manager Randy Carr was Tom Bowers and 25 students from the Exploring Electronic Media and WBFH Staff classes: Alexander Madias, Ayman Alam, Michael Blumenthal, Bryan Brown, Jacqueline Shandler, Bryan Furlong, Winston Parker, Tyler Kieft, Brock Appleby, Eric Bloom, Marcus Boyd, Mark Stewart, Dylan Deitch, Sean Shepard, Ashli Ferguson, Mazen Hasan, Sam Srinivasan, Ben Beltser, Brandon Steingold, Harrison Parker, Andrew Brown, Therese Tai, Evan Brook, Greg Margosian and Andie McKendrick .
Students attended four sessions before the Keynote Address: Hire Me! 41 Things to do Right Now to Land a Job; Making the Most of Your College Broadcasting Experience; Broadcast Tools of the Trade; and The WRITE Path to Success in a Multimedia World. Carr was on the panel for Broadcast Tools and Bowers was the moderator for Student Station Round Table.
Andover Junior Winston Parker was the station’s representative on the Student Advisory Committee that met during the conference.
The keynote speaker was Lori Lewis, a Digital and Social Media Strategist for Jacobs Media.
