BHS Teachers Will Join Right to Work Protests
The Bloomfield Hills Schools and its teacher's union agree to send some members to Lansing for Tuesday's protests, but school schedule unchanged.

The Bloomfield Hills Schools was well represented when educators, parents and others concerned with public education reform took to the state Capitol last week to protest bills on the fast track in the lame duck legislative session.
The same can likely be said for the protests planned Tuesday in Lansing by labor unions from across the state that oppose controversial right-to-work legislation that is expected to be voted on during the day.
The district and its teacher's union agreed to allow two union representatives from each building to attend the protests in Lansing, Superintendent Rob Glass said. He anticipated 18-20 teachers would be out of school Tuesday.
"That was really the most we could allow to go and participate without disrupting daily functions in our buildings," Glass said.
Warren Consolidated Schools and Taylor Public Schools cancelled classes entirely Tuesday due to the number of teachers that planned to attend the protests, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

When given the chances Glass never disappoints to demonstrate who his true allegiance is to.....himself and his union counterparts, ...the kids...ah just forgetaboutit. Another reason the school funding bill is the only way to go.

The world will continue to turn with two staff members per building in Lansing. It strikes me as a fine way to balance the request of the teachers and their union and the needs of the district.
I love to see teachers so well paid and respected that unions were obsolete.

Michigan State Representative Doug Geiss, D-Taylor promised today on the Michigan house floor that there "will be blood" if right-to-work passes. Geiss was debating legislation that would make Michigan the nation’s 24th right to work state.
