Bloomfield Behind Others in Patch's Virtual Food Drive
Patch Fights Hunger, a fundraiser for Gleaners Community Food Bank, runs through Nov. 24.
The deadline to donate to Patch's virtual food drive to help fight hunger this holiday season is now extended to Nov. 24. And that's a good thing for Bloomfield area residents.
Thanks to dozens of generous donations, Patch readers raised $3,276 through our Patch Fights Hunger online food drive, supporting Gleaners Community Food Bank as of this weekend.
But of the donations made so far, just two amounting to $76 came from Bloomfield Patch readers, data shows. Dearborn Patch raised $495, more than any other Patch community in southeast Michigan. Though local readers raised more than Birmingham and West Bloomfield, fifteen other Patch sites are ahead of Bloomfield with less than a week left. Thanks to those that donated, and others that will consider it in the days ahead.
The goal is to raise $10,000 to feed families throughout southeast Michigan.
This virtual food drive runs through Sunday, Nov. 24, and is the first for the Gleaners Community Food Bank. The 30 Michigan Patch sites are proud and honored to be their first partner.
