Bloomfield Twp. Home Destroyed by Fire
Bloomfield Township firefighters responded to the area of Square Lake Road and Woodward Ave. Tuesday night.
Fire ripped through a home on Bloomfield Township's north end Tuesday night causing substantial damage, officials said.
Bloomfield Township firefighters responded to the 100 block of Barrington Road, — just northeast of the Square Lake Road and Woodward Avenue intersection — at about 10:30 p.m. after receiving calls from neighbors that smelled smoke, Fire Marshal Mike McCully said.
Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived, McCully said.
"We had our work ahead of us, but the fire was under control within an our," he said.
Crews quickly determined no one was home at the time, and the homeowner's cat escaped unharmed. No injuries were reported. The cause remains undetermined and under investigation.
The damage to the small ranch home was substantial, though no dollar figure was determined by Wednesday afternoon, McCully said. He noted the fire travelled up the walls, into the attic and then through the roof, making it uninhabitable.
West Bloomfield firefighters assisted with station coverage during the incident.
This story was updated to reflect Barrington Road is in the northeast quadrant of Square Lake and Woodward.

I believe Barrington is in the northeast quadrant of Square Lake and Woodward, not the southwest.
