Despite the weather, residents turned out Sunday for Bloomfield Township's Annual Open House and enjoyed family-friendly activities, including live demonstrations by the Bloomfield Township Fire Department and Bloomfield Township Police Department.

Bloomfield Township Supervisor Leo Savoie also surprised former Supervisor Dave Payne in a special ceremony that dedicated the Public Services Building in his honor. Payne, who announced his retirement in June 2011, started his 41-year career with the township in what was then called the road department. He was joined by wife, Debbie Payne, and several former colleagues on the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees.

This "honor" was quite a surprise to this taxpayer, too.
I think the taxpayers who paid (and continue to pay) to build that building should have been given an opportunity to decide on its name.
Dave Payne quit in the middle of his term, remember? When a person runs for office, they should expect to remain in office until their term expires. Dave quit.
There is no "honor" in quitting.
Will our new $79-million high school be named "Steve Gaynor High?"
No official or permanent name has yet been approved by our Board of Education.
Voters and taxpayers in this community deserve more respect from those who are elected to serve them.

Does anyone remember when Jenny Greenwell was trying to clean up her image and said she accepted that the voters had approved the high school and it was time to move on? Voters and taxpayers in this community deserve more than the inconsistencies and claims that hold no water than what Ms. Greenwell is serving up.

I don't live in BT so as to what Mr. Aisner posted I shouldn't comment just as Ms. Greenwell should have only commented on what Mr. Aisner posted not an off handed dig at BHSD, as is her main mantra nowadays.

Mrs. Greenwell,

If it were up to you the taxpayers of this school district and the township would have a vote on each and every issue thereby nullifying what the trustees are for. AND, wouldn't all of this voting cost money? Maybe you like to waste money, but I surely don't! They can call the buildings whatever the heck they please for all I care as long as they serve the purpose they were built for!
