Fifth Third Bank Website Attacked

The bank, which has multiple branches in the Bloomfield area, tells customers their accounts are secure.

 

WXYZ reports that Fifth Third Bank's website was attacked Tuesday.

According to the report, hackers did not gain access to customer data. The attack denied service to customers, by flooding the site with traffic. 

Fifth Third Bank has two locations in the Bloomfield area:

On Tuesday, the bank posted the following message on its Facebook page:

"We're actively monitoring and assessing delays on 53.com. This slowdown has not impacted customer accounts. We are working to restore online connectivity as soon as possible and will provide updates when available."

Clarification: This article has been changed to reflect that the site was attacked, but not "hacked."
