Honeymoon Shot Wins Week 2 of Patch of Michigan Photo Contest
With more than 200 photos submitted, it was difficult to choose one winner.
"Best honeymoon ever" is how Beth Potts describes her trip to Isle Royale in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer with her new husband, Chris. Her photo of Chris in their packed canoe navigating the way wins the second week of the first Your Patch of Michigan photo contest.
"Honeymoon July 2010" was selected out of more than 200 stunning, silly and showy photos submitted for the week of July 31-Aug. 6. It wins a $25 gift certificate to Stucchi's in Dearborn.
"We've both traveled internationally and around the U.S., but you don't have to leave Michigan to have it as good as it gets," the Grosse Pointe Woods woman said. "We plan to adventure in a new Michigan destination for each anniversary. This summer was a waterfall tour! There's always more to see."
You, too, can share your visions of Michigan in photos in our Your Patch of Michigan photo contest.
Every week through Sept. 17 we'll have a new photo gallery and a new winner chosen by a panel of Michigan Patch editors. Each weekly winner will get a prize.
After Sept. 17, we'll pick a grand prize winner from all of the weekly winners. The grand prize winner will receive a certificate for a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island (to be used before Oct. 31, 2012, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $500.
Do you need to be Ansel Adams to win this? No. The single qualification for photos you send is that they say "Michigan" to you.
How to enter Patch of Michigan contest
First, become a registered Patch user if you aren't already; just sign up at the top right corner of the homepage. Then add your photo(s) to the gallery for the week of Aug. 7-13.
Be sure to include your real, full name and the place where the photo was taken, as well as any other relevant information about what the photo shows. The email address you use to register must be a working one so we can reach you should we have questions — or should you be selected as a winner.
All photos must be posted each Saturday by midnight to be judged for that week. The contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 and older. Beth: you are so good and dedicated, answering all the questions, even the ones which are rookie in nature. I just love the Honey Moon Pic. I was all wound up, didn't open the patch for some time, cause last week's winner was of Kid, this week was a honeymooners, that is back wards is it not? homey moon then the kids? Boy did I laugh when I saw some raw pic, out of some ones wedding album. and then the engenunity of, "you know that stupid shot, of you lost (male) not asking any questions and spending hours looking at a Map. My advice to the husband, "we are never lost, that a Michigan left won't take care of" remember that when the honey moon is over and she rags on you...NEVER ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS"... lol
I hope you brought your pass port, you could end up in Canada.. it is the land you see in the distance, or that line you canoed over, with is the canadian boundry.smile.
again, kid at ice cream, or in leaves does not show Michigan, no scenery, sorry folks, they have leaves in TEnn, etc. also Ice cream...all over the world which ends up with the same pleasurable look. they are cute, etc. for a kids contest............. by now you know, all my kids are grown, the leaves are put into my Garden, and covered with a shovel of dirt, now put a rake in those hands and rake. smile of course, the honey moon title, just sent so much laughter, and a bit of been there done that, back in the day, by the map, I say you need a port turn, back to camp..
worth the wait
