Party favors bring fun, creativity
Move over, Jordan almonds. Brides and grooms want to give their guests a memorable gift that will last beyond the day after the big day.
Photo booths have become a popular feature at wedding receptions. In addition to taking pictures, the booth can also take care of the favors.
With a package from Infinity Photobooth of Clawson, guests pose for pictures in groups of up to 12 people. Each person then gets a photo strip with a custom-designed logo commemorating the wedding.
In addition to offering custom-printed mugs and cups for favors at the reception, Perfect Trading Company in Bloomfield Township also sells a one-of-a-kind keepsake: personalized pillow cases for out of town guests.
"The guests show up at the hotel and find a pillow case printed with the itinerary for the wedding weekend," said Brian Klayman of Perfect Trading. "On the other side, it glows in the dark and says, 'Sweet dreams. Thank you for sharing our day with us.'"
Trends in wedding invitations
Wedding stationery isn’t what is used to be.
"For a long time, white and cream stock were your only options, with just a few type styles to choose from," said Terri Trepeck with Invites Ink in Bloomfield Hills. "Now brides don’t feel like they have to be so traditional anymore. Anything goes, so they can really set the mood for the wedding."
Kim Kraus, who owns Just Write Invites in Farmington Hills, said invitations with color top the list of stationery trends.
"Color is in. If you open up an invitation book, you’ll see color everywhere," Kraus said. "The 'it' color for fall and winter is a gorgeous mulberry red. Orange is big, too."
