Mara Moss' Top 5 Makeup Trends for This Summer

This Bloomfield Hills makeup artist says don't head into the summer months unprepared.

Mara Moss, makeup artist, has these tips for summer:

Bold Lips: Lipstick and lipstain are edging out gloss this season, Moss says. Fabulous colors abound- try a pink, red or coral.

Coral: You cannot open a magazine without seeing a beautiful shade of orange, she says. When choosing corals, keep in mind beauty basics like undertones – there IS a coral out there for you if you want it – maybe it’s a pink/orange, blue/orange, yellow/orange. All women can wear any color they want, if they select the right hue.

Fresh Glowing Skin: After a long, dry winter, healthy, moisturized and glowing skin is key for spring, says Moss. Look bright, healthy; pink blushes and light bronzer help achieve that.

Gold: Add shimmer! Done in a cream eye shadow with fake lashes for a dramatic look or a light gold shimmer powder shadow with mascara for a daytime look. There are tons of variations of golds in the makeup marketplace today. Again, keep in mind your undertones when looking for golds. Some golds have a lot of green in them, others are more yellow.

A Soft, Smokey Eye: “Smokey” is a style, not a color. Smokey does not have to mean black and grey. This spring, do a smoky eye with a variety of colors – less black and gray , more pink and gold, or lilac-violet and silver.
