Breast cancer survivors of Oakland County will have a party in honor of their birthdays Aug. 21 in West Bloomfield.
The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer—Oakland County will host the celebration from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the West Bloomfield Main Library at 4600 Walnut Lake Road. Registration is at 6 p.m.
Survivors can bring a guest—preferably a caregiver— and RSVP at (248) 663-3473. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
"The celebration is a wonderful event for those who have been through so much after being diagnosed with breast cancer,” Gabrielle Newton, a breast cancer survivor and chair of the event, said in a release.
In 2011, about 7,890 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in Michigan, according to the American Cancer Society.
