Police Investigate Armed Robbery in Bloomfield Township
A clerk at the Rite Aid on Woodward Avenue handed over cash and cigarettes to a man who implied he was armed.
Investigators with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are trying to identify a man that robbed a drug store on the township's north side Wednesday night.
The robber entered the Rite Aid on Woodward Avenue shortly after 10 p.m., implied he a gun, and demanded money from an employee, police reports said. The clerk handed him nearly $400 in cash and a pack of cigarettes the man also wanted. The man then fled in an unknown direction. No one was injured and no weapon was seen, reports said.
Officers searched the area with the assistance of a K-9 team from the Troy Police Department, but did not locate him. Investigators said they continue to review surveillance camera footage of the area.
The man is described as black, of an unknown age with a medium build. He was bald, clean shaven and wore a brown jacket and black hoodie, according to reports.
The incident is the second armed robbery report in the township in as many weeks. Police are still searching for a man that reportedly robbed a woman of her purse at gunpoint late last month at the Fox Hills Apartment Complex.
Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to call the department at 248-433-7752.
