Andover High School students attended an assembly Friday devoted to the school's winter sports program, and received a special treat: 20-year-old rising R&B/pop star Chrystian performed several songs, including his original single, “Something About You.”
According to Chrystian's post-performance tweets, Andover’s crowd was “crazy huge” and had “a lot of energy.” While at the school, he also conducted an interview with the student radio station The Biff, which did “a wonderful job coordinating the event,” said Andover student Grace McIlhon.
Students were enthusiastic about the performance. Senior Lise Devits said she hadn’t had high hopes for the assembly going in, but that she was “amazed at how good [Chrystian] was.”
Josh Morof, also a senior, said that Chrystian “put on an exciting show.”
Chrystian’s performance led to an immediate outpouring of praise from Andover students online. Twitter comments included @racheltgray’s (junior Rachel Gray’s) assessment of the show as “unreal,” and @_Kat15’s (sophomore Katya Stone’s) assertion that Chrystian is “what’s next.”
Chrystian, born Chrystian Clements, lives in Westerville, OH, near Columbus. He is currently signed to the record label NZBeersa, and has said that music is something that “comes very naturally” to him.
He loves feeling the “connection with the crowd” that comes with performing live.
If Andover students’ reactions were any indication, they felt a connection with Chrystian, too.
