Tigers Game, Sailing Pictures Win Final Week of Patch of Michigan Photo Contest
Grand prize winner to be announced next week.
Our love of sports is a huge part of what makes Michigan what it is, illustrated by the winners of our final weekly Your Patch of Michigan photo contest.
During Week 8 - the final week - of the contest, more than 160 photos that share readers' visions of Michigan were submitted for a grand total of nearly 2,000 entries during the eight weeks.
We had two winners this week: Kristin Schreck of Rochester Hills' snapshot of the exciting end of a Detroit Tigers game and Grosse Pointe native and current Up North resident Gretchen Dorian's capture of the finish of this year's Port Huron-to-Mackinac Race.
Early next week, we will announce the grand prize winner selected from all of the weekly winners. The grand prize winner will receive a certificate for a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island (to be used before Oct. 31, 2012, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $500.
Did you need to be Ansel Adams to win this? No. The single qualification for photos submitted is that they say "Michigan" to you.
What is your favorite patch of Michigan?

Love this photo. My family had our fantasy football draft that night and we turned off the Tigers game because we did not expect them to come back... lo and behold, they found a way to win. Congrats, winners!

This is what sports are all about! Who can't identify with this at some level? What a great feature this photo contest is.
