VIDEO: 48-Hour Cat Adoption Event Finds New Homes for Cats in Need
With volunteers working around the clock, the marathon event sent many cats home with their new families. It continues until 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Oakland County Animal Adoption Center's 48-Hour Cat Adoption event is still going strong at Pet Supplies Plus in Bloomfield Hills.
Starting Friday with more than 200 felines at the store, "Cats in Pajamas" has brought out cat lovers flooking to add to their brood and others searching for a first-time companion. Cats of every age in every size and color pranced, snuggled and showed their cuter sides in hopes of meeting their new owners.
The event continues through the night and until 4 p.m. Sunday. Store officials said traffic was steady all day.
“The store had the idea that with the 48-hour event that people who worked later and people who worked early, no matter what your work schedule was, you’d be able to come over here and look at the cats and possibly adopt,” said Sue Pudlo, event coordinator.
Despite the large turnout Saturday, the Oakland County Animal Adoption Center still has more than 100 cats in need of homes. All cats are spayed/neutered as well as up-to-date on vaccinations. The adoption fee is $59.
