Vote for one of the following or write in your own candidate in the comments:

James Young, Troy High School (boys basketball): James Young did it again. He hit a go-ahead 3-point play with 16 seconds left in overtime to put Troy ahead of Oak Park 68-65 on Senior Night last Thursday. On the Knights' final possession, he sealed the win with a steal. The win helped Troy keep pace with Ferndale for first place in the league. Young had six of his team’s seven points in overtime. The junior finished the game with 30 points and 18 rebounds. And oh yeah, MSU coach Tom Izzo was there.

Vtech Fuchs, Royal Oak High School (swimming): At the Oakland Activities Association Blue league meet last week, Vtech Fuchs was “Senior of the Meet” with first place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (22.63) and the 100 yard backstroke. He also was part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team that finished in third place and the 400 yard freestyle team that finished in second.

Kelly Lunghamer, Marian High School (skiing): Lunghamer won the Giant Slalom at the Southeastern Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) Championships on Monday at Alpine Valley. She edged out Mallory Slicker from Walled Lake Central with a time of 36.17. Lunghamer will compete in the state finals on Monday for the Mustangs.

Shannon Wilson, Andover High School (girls basketball): With six seconds left in the game, the sophomore hit a game-winning layup Friday in a 54-53 win over Ferndale to give her team sole possession of the OAA Blue division title. Wilson finished the game with nine points, eight assists and five rebounds. She also led the Bloomfield Hills team with 19 points and eight steals in a 51-36 win over Birmingham Seaholm on Tuesday.
