With Election Day and Daylight Saving time happening this week, it may have seemed a little longer than usual. Friday has finally arrived though. This week we focused mainly on many of the events at the historic grand reopening of the Cranbrook Art Museum after two years of construction. We have counted down the days to help you plan your weekend with options of events to attend.

Library Friends "BIG" Book Sale

Where: Bloomfield Township Public Library

When: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. or Sunday at 12 p.m.

Why go: The Friends book sale takes place on both Saturday and Sunday, but Sunday is the bargain bag sale day. Where else can you go and fill up a bag of gently used books for only $5? There will also be CD's, DVD's, videos, and records available to purchase.

Grand Reopening of Cranbrook Art Museum — Family Day

Where: Cranbrook

When: 10 a.m. Sunday

Why go: Cranbrook Art Museum continues its grand reopening celebration with family day on Sunday. The Cranbrook Schools Upper School Docent Club will lead a family and youth tour of the new No Object Is an Island Exhibition at noon. This tour is designed particularly for students and younger viewers. At 1 p.m., families can learn the tricks and techniques of bookmaking in the "Pressed and Bound" bookbinding workshop with Terry Conrad. After watching Conrad demonstrate the printmaking process, young museum visitors will get to design, create and decorate a journal for themselves.

Grand Reopening of Cranbrook Art Museum

Where: Cranbrook

When: Friday at 9 p.m.

Why go: Cranbrook Art Museum is finally reopening, and they have eleven days of celebrating to offer. On Friday night, you can attend the Public Opening Reception. There will be three live musicians/bands as EMERGENCE presents "A Night of Music: Night One." Invincible is a Detroit based Hip-Hop artist and activist whose wordplay is popular across the world. The Rarities, is a Detroit duo who mix Hip-Hop flavor with intense cello playing. The Cupcake Collective has a multi-genre approach to music. They are a Detroit DJ collective of queer folks and allies who believe in diversity on the dance floor.

Grand Reopening of Cranbrook Art Museum — Artists Panel

Where: Cranbrook

When: 11 a.m. Saturday

Why go: Cranbrook Art Museum continues its grand reopening celebration with a chance to meet and listen to some of the artists on Saturday. At 1 p.m., you can listen to a panel of four Cranbrook Academy of Art Alumni speak on their arts. The Art Museum will also be offering tours of their newest exhibit No Object Is an Island Exhibition, the Collections Wing Tour, and the Saarinen House Tour. At 7 p.m., artist Anthony Burrill and the Musicians of Acid Washed will speak In Dialogue in deSalle Auditorium. The band also will perform afterward.

St. Hugo Mom to Mom Sale

Where: St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church

When: Saturday at 9 a.m.

Why go: Mom to mom sales start to dwindle just before the holidays. Here's your chance to buy gently used baby items, books, and toys for your kids at deep discounted prices. You can even find many items with tags still on them, that you can gift for the holidays. This sale features over 80 tables along with a large item room. Mom to mom sales offer a win-win situation for both the seller and buyer.
