- Money speaks, sometimes loudly, so that the medium becomes the message and the real message of issues and candidates’ qualifications are lost in the noise.
- True friends (those who are there when you need them) take a stand on your behalf; false friends (those who are only there when they need you) sit on the fence, or worse, throw you under the bus when it suits their purposes.
- People who seem trustworthy sometimes aren’t.
- Elections often bring out both the best of human nature and the worst.
- It is amazing to find out there actually are people who spend most of their lives being angry.
- It is humbling to learn how motivated and dedicated campaign workers are.
- Meeting new people and acquiring new friends (while continuing to cherish the old ones), are two of the most gratifying outcomes of a campaign.
- Realizing that people you have never met before believe in your abilities, experience and principles, is both humbling and rewarding.
- Having the support of important voices in the community is gratifying; however “gratifying” does not win elections.
- Being a gracious loser or a gracious winner should be standard procedure after the voters have spoken;we all live together on this planet and life is too short not to be considerate of everyone we meet on our journey.
Now that the election is over, we must all come together and work for the common good of our community, our schools, our state and our country. Let's get started!
