DESCRIPTION:The best sweet corn around is headed to Birmingham at the thi
 rd annual Corn Festival scheduled for Sunday\, August 12 from 9 a.m. to 
 2 p.m. The celebration of one of Michigan&rsquo\;s sweetest harvests wil
 l include delicious samples\, a petting farm\, corn shelling\, a childre
 n&rsquo\;s corn kernel pool\, and free children&rsquo\;s craft provided 
 by Happy Dino Playcare.\nSamples of locally made corn-related products w
 ill be available throughout the event. Attendees will enjoy roasted swee
 t corn\, popcorn\, caramel corn\, kettle corn\, corn chips and corn brea
 d. Shoppers can see and pet a variety of farm animals from Bowers School
  Traveling Farm. Expect to see rabbits\, baby animals\, a milking goat\,
  pony and sheep.\n&ldquo\;The top seller at this crowd-drawing event is 
 always the roasted sweet corn\,&rdquo\; said John Heiney\, executive dir
 ector of Birmingham&rsquo\;s Principal Shopping District. &ldquo\;The de
 licious smells\, free samples and special activities add to the exciteme
 nt at the festival.&rdquo\;\nThe Birmingham Farmers Market runs every Su
 nday through October 28\, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The lively
  outdoor market is located in public Parking Lot 6 on the east side of N
 . Old Woodward (across from Salvatore Scallopini Restaurant and Booth Pa
 rk). Every week the market offers fresh prepared foods\, live music\, a 
 children&rsquo\;s craft area and more. Throughout the summer more than 7
 0 booths will feature a diverse array of locally and regionally grown pr
 oduce including organic vegetables\, fruits\, flowers and garden plants\
