UPDATED: Birmingham Hairdresser Looks For Love on 'The Bachelor'

A local resident takes her shot at Bachelor Sean Lowe's heart in the new season of the reality dating show airing Monday night.

UPDATE 10:38 P.M.: Ashley Palenkas of Macomb Township did not make the cut on the first episode of the new season of "The Bachelor" on Monday night, according to WXYZ.

A Birmingham hairdresser who also moonlights as a bartender is among the contestants seeking reality show romance on this season of "The Bachelor," premiering at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC.

Ashley Palenkas, 28, joins 25 other ladies vying for a chance at love with Dallas native Sean Lowe. Lowe was a finalist on last season's "The Bachelorette" before he was sent home by Emily Maynard.

Palenkas says she considers herself a romantic who wears her heart on her sleeve and lets emotions "rule over my head," her bio states. She is a hairdresser in Birmingham and a part-time bartender at Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak, according to The Macomb Daily.
