UPDATED: Blood Drives Canceled Due to Weather, But Need is Strong

The American Red Cross encourages people that can get out and donate to do so at local donation centers and has extended hours.

Updated at 11:30 a.m.: The American Red Cross announced that it will extend hours at all donation centers this afternoon to 4:30 p.m. in order to accommodate additional donations.

 

The American Red Cross issued an urgent call for blood donations Friday due to numerous blood-drive cancellations due to the inclement weather.

Roughly and more is expected throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Due to the cancellations, the American Red Cross urges donors that can safely go to a donor site, such as the one at 4190 Telegraph Rd. in Bloomfield Township, to do so today between the hours of 9 a.m.and 3 p.m.

Other donation centers in the area:

  • Berkley: 28105 Woodward Ave, Berkley
  • Livonia: 36650 Five Mile Rd.,  Livonia
