Hazardous Weather Alert: High Wind Warning Bring Snow Back in Forecast
Southeast Michigan could see a return to winter Monday night.
Winds are howling again after strong weekend storms left caused havoc across northern Oakland County and elsewhere in southeast Michigan.
A high-wind warning remains in effect until noon, the National Weather Service said. Gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible, possibly causing damage to tree limbs and power lines, leading to more outages.
The winds are blowing in a cold front that could bring a return to winter to southeast Michigan. Rain will quickly change to snow tonight, with up to three inches possible, the National Weather Service said.

In Bloomfield Township, a school bus driver and one student were trapped briefly Monday morning after a 13,000-volt power line fell across a school bus, the Oakland Press reports. Local fire crews responded about 7:45 a.m. to the call on Eileen Street, north of Square Lake Road and east of Telegraph Roads. DTE Energy crews were at the scene by 8:20 and de-energized the line.
Neither the driver nor the student was injured.

About 470 people in the immediate vicinity lost power.
The Oakland Press also reported that about 16,000 DTE customers, about a quarter of them in Lake Orion, woke up in the dark again Monday morning after strong weekend storms.
Several homes in Orion Township were posted as not livable due to the severe storm damage. The Lake Orion Police Department said it is fast tracking repair and structural permits on affected homes.One school in Lake Orion – Blanche Sims Elementary – was closed Monday because of storm damage. But after a transformer blew at Heights Road and caused massive power outages at other building, school was cancelled for the day.
Elsewhere in the area, the roof blew off a baseball dugout near Birmingham Seaholm High School, but school officials were getting it moved, the Detroit Free Press said.
In Macomb County Saturday, straight line winds of 60 to 70 mph downed power lines and trees, The Macomb Daily said. One of the hardest hit areas was Chesterfield Township, between 23 Mile Road and Gratiot. Discount Tires on 23 Mile Road lost part of its roof and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church was left with a large hole in its roof as well.
Downed trees damaged condominiums, vehicles and privacy fences.
