National Weather Service Issues Wind Chill Watch for Bloomfield and Beyond

The temperatures could get well below zero again this week, according to the National Weather Service.

After losing another day of school last week due to potentially dangerous weather conditions, the last thing parents and staff in the Bloomfield Hills Schools want to hear is that more wintry weather is on the way.

Don't kill the messenger.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill watch advisory for the entire metro Detroit area that could stretch from Monday night and through Wednesday morning. A new wave of Arctic air is expected to reach the area by late Monday and could send temps well below zero degrees. Combined with winds anticipated to blow between 10-15 mph, and the wind chill could plummet temperatures to 30-35 degrees below zero, the NWS warned.

Wind chills may lead to hypothermia or frost bite on skin exposed to the elements even for just a short time. If you have to venture out, dress in layers and keep your head, face feet and fingers covered at all times.
