Bloomfield Township artist Laurie Mueller has been named The Community House Artist of the Month for December.

Mueller, a mixed-media artist, is known locally for her work with painting, collages, ceramics and murals, her work being sold and featured in galleries and publications all over the country.

Most recently, Mueller is focusing on creating "Street Scenes," during which she chooses pieces from her old paintings and reassembles them into a semi-abstract scene.

"My current focus is the 'Street Scene' series, where I can let my imagination go wild with every day people, activities, and just plain life," Mueller writes on her website, www.lamugoart.com.

As part of her show at The Community House, visitors can view several of Mueller's "Street Scenes," including "Street Scene/Sax on the Dock" and "Street Scene/Fish Tales."

Besides her exhibition at The Community House, Birmingham residents have also seen Mueller's work as part of the 2012 Lion Town project with the Children's Charities Coalition and Detroit Lions. Mueller created the "Paws and Reflect" lion, which sold for $5,000 at a public auction at Ford Field.

The Community House exhibition features 30 of Mueller's works in the Martha Maxwell Gallery, located on the upper level of The Community House. The public is welcome to view Mueller's work for free Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., through the end of December.
