Detroit Activist Stars in New Play at the Berman Center This Weekend

'Passing' stars Mayowa Lisa Reynolds and follows the story of Minerva Roulhac, a woman raised by former slaves in 19th century Florida.

Wondering what's happening this weekend around Bloomfield? In today's Weekend Spotlight, we're looking at:

Our pick for today: Passing: The Play

  • When: Friday-Sunday
  • Where: Berman Center for the Performing Arts (6600 W. Maple Rd., West Bloomfield)
  • Cost: $26
  • Why Go: Inspired by the true story of Minerva Roulhac — a woman born in 1885 and raised by the family of a former slave in Florida — Passing confronts issues of race, identity, ethnicity and interracial relationships and is playing all weekend at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts.
