How Did Olympians Meryl Davis and Charlie White Fare in Week 1 of ‘DWTS’?

Meryl Davis and Charlie White worked together to win gold in the ice dancing competition at the Sochi 2014 Olympics. Now they're competing against each other on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

Just three weeks after they became the first Americans in history the gold medal in ice dancing, Meryl Davis and Charlie White faced off again – against each other, rather than as the figure skating team who dazzled judges in the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

Davis and White are celebrity headliners in the 18th season of “Dancing with the Stars,” which premiered Monday night on ABC.

White and his partner, Sharna Burgess, turned in a near-gold medal performance, scoring 27 out of 30 possible points from judges. No other couple scored higher.

"You guys are a perfect match," said judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

"This was a good dance for you,” said Len Goodman. “It was like ice dancing without the ice."

"It's very simple, you are an artist," added Bruno Tonioli.

Davis and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, scored a 24.

“You’re good on wood!” Goodman raved.

“You’re the queen of the spins,” Tonioli said.

The cast also includes double-amputee snowboarding champ Amy Purdy and former hockey star Sean Avery.

Next week, the contestants do the Fox Trot.
