Which of Michigan’s Olympic Ice Dancers Scored 1 Point Shy of Perfect on ‘DWTS’?

Michiganders Meryl Davis and Charlie White aren’t collaborating on the the “Dancing with the Stars” stage, but when celebrity dancers were asked about their most memorable year, Davis didn’t choose just one: She said it was her 17-year journey of skating with White.

And White?

It was 2010 when he and Davis won a silver medal, because it helped him set his sights on a gold medal in 2014, which the couple won in the ice dancing competition at the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

Both continue to place high on the leaderboards after Week 3 of Season 18 of “DWTS.”

Davis and her partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy, chose “All of Me” for their FoxTrot. Davis dedicated the song to everyone who helped her make it possible for her to win a gold medal.

The judges loved it, scoring it just one point shy of perfect. Things got a little more complicated this week with the addition of guest judge Robin Roberts, which means the couples could score 40 instead of 30 points. Davis and Chmerkovskiy scored 39 of 40 points.

Roberts aid the judge were “clutching each other” during the dance and it was hard to think of her as the young ice dancer who said she was so shy she couldn’t look at her partner for 17 years on the ice in the eye for many years.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said the dance was romantic and delicate, with “extraordinary” choreography.

Judge Carrie Ann Ibaba admitted to bursting into tears because the dance was so beautiful.

Head Judge Len Goodman said he loved the calmness they displayed and said M&M are “sweet and delicious.” He’s the only one of the judges who gave them a 9.

White and his partner, Sharna Burgess, did a Jive dance to “Happy,” which he dedicated to his parents and his girlfriend, who have always supported his endeavors.

They scored 9s across the board for 36 out of 40 points.

Ibaba called the dance “fantastic” and they said they worked the room, but were just a little ahead of the music a couple of times.  Goodman said Charlie was “steamin’, he was ‘beamin.” Roberts aid it was like happy hour and that White spreads happiness as his feet glide across the floor. Tonioli said the dance was cheerful, delightful and uplifting.

New to the show’s format this season is a twist called “The Switch Up” has been added. This lets viewers vote to change the pairings of celebrities and professional dancers, says ABC.
