This story was written and reported by Judy Davids.

One could argue modern architecture, furniture and graphic design has its origins in Michigan.

A new exhibit at the Cranbrook Art Museum,  Michigan Modern: Design that Shaped America, shows the scope Michigan's prolific output of modern design, including the work of Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen and Harry Bertoia. The work of these visionaries defined an era.

The museum, located at 39221 Woodward Ave. in  Bloomfield Hills, is open from 11 am- 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday.

The show runs through Oct. 16.
