Matt Prentice's Detroit Prime Closes; Pizzeria Biga Adds Brunch, and More Restaurant News

Detroit Prime Restaurant in Farmington Hills: Matt Prentice closed the doors of Detroit Prime last weekend, the Detroit Free Press reports. Opened six months ago on Northwestern Highway, the steakhouse's weekday business was not enough to keep it profitable, a spokesperson for Matt Prentice: A Culinary Experience, said. 

Valentine Vodka in Ferndale: The distillery recently was featured in Midwest Living in a video focusing on "a few of the entrepreneurs helping to put Detroit back on its feet – and serving some great drinks and dishes in the process." Pizzeria Biga in Royal Oak: The restaurant that specializes in Neapolitan style pizza and other Italian specialties has added a breakfast/brunch menu. Brunch will be offered from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu includes huevos, frittata, fritta di funghi, strata, eggs pizzaiola, polenta gorgonzola and smoked salmon. House-made organic granola, oatmeal, fruit, and Belgium waffles are also on the menu. Prices range from $8.95-$10.95. Pizzeria Biga is located at 711 S. The eateries received 2013 bistro license approval on Feb. 11, which means they will be allowed to serve alcohol and add more outdoor dining. Birmingham Sushi has plans to serve sake, plum wine and Asian beers. What Crepe? will sell French wines, beers and hand-crafted cocktails. The Meeting House in Rochester: The new downtown restaurant has added happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Happy hour specials include the Burger Plate for $5 and the Truffle Chicken Wings for 50 cents each, as well as deals on drinks. Starting this spring, The Meeting House also will offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays and open the rooftop patio. The Meeting House is located at 301 S. Main Street.
