Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees

The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Township Hall. Among the items on the agenda are a formal proclamation honoring former planning commissioner Sherry Stefanes; the swearing-in ceremony for two firefighters that recently completed their probationary period; and approval of a liquor license policy for the township.

Potts to Announce bid for State House

County Commissioner , R-Birmingham, is scheduled to formally announce his campaign for the State House of Representatives at 4 p.m. at the County Commissioner chambers in Pontiac. Potts told members of the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees at a meeting earlier this month that he would seek the seat vacated by term-limited State Rep. Chuck Moss, R-Birmingham, next year. . Potts is one commissioner that faced a decision after Gov. Snyder signed a law .

The will host two more town hall meetings this week to help inform voters about the pending bond vote to fund the , and get their feedback. The first meeting is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Way Elementary School, and will be followed by another meeting from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at . Author/Illustrator Wong Herbert Yee Presents

Join Michigan author and illustrator Wong Herbert Yee for a demonstration on how he writes and illustrates at a special meeting at the Bloomfield Township Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Yee created the popular Mouse and Mole series of books for early readers, as well as other children's books such as Fireman and Tracks in the Snow. Recommended ages for the presentation are children in kindergarten to third grade. Yee's books will be available for purchase and signing. There is no fee and no registration is required.

CARE House of Oakland County, a nonprofit serving the needs of abused and neglected children, will host child abduction survivor and ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Smart at its annual Circle of Friends benefit Thursday at the . The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning shortly thereafter.
