Get Out: Independence Day Weekend Edition
From fireworks to a Scottish festival, there really is something for everyone this week.
It’s Thursday, and this weekend, the nation will be celebrating the Fourth of July — what will you be doing?
Bloomfield Patch has compiled these best bets for this weekend:
- Fireworks over Wabeek Country Club
Where: Wabeek Country Club
When: 10 p.m. Thursday
Why go?: More than 700 fireworks will be displayed from the club's 18th tee beginning at 10 p.m. The celebration will be moved to July 1 if it rains.
Where:
When: 7-11:30 p.m. Sunday
Why go?: The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center will host its annual artBLAST, which includes classes, workshops, games and dinner. Tickets cost $30-$300, depending on how much you want to participate. Then hang out for a front-row seat to the city's fireworks display next door at Lincoln Hills Golf Course.

When: Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, show starts at dusk
Why go?: Bring a lawn chair and a picnic basket to enjoy the city's yearly fireworks show at Lincoln Hills Golf Course. Parking is available at No alcoholic beverages or sparklers are permitted.- Clawson Fourth of July Festivities
Where: Downtown Clawson
When: Monday
Why go?: Our neighbor, the city of Clawson, celebrates the Fourth of July in a big way. Make sure to check out the at 7 a.m., the at 7:45 a.m. and the at 9 a.m.
Where: 2369 Joslyn Rd. in Lake Orion
When: 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday
Why go?: OK, so it's a celebration of Scottish culture, but what's better to round out the holiday weekend than the Michigan Scottish Festival at Olde World Canterbury Village? Activities include heavy athletics, a Scottish dance competition, Celtic fiddling, a performance by the Michigan Scottish Pipe Band and plenty of games and crafts for the children.
