Snowfall, Icy Road Conditions Close Schools in Bloomfield Hills

A Winter Weather Advisory will expire Wednesday morning, but area public and private schools are closed all day.

All Bloomfield Hills Schools, and private schools in Bloomfield Hills are closed for the day due to a wintry mix of freezing rain and snow that fell overnight, and is expected to carry on for sometime today.

As of 5:30 a.m., the following schools officially canceled classes due to wintry conditions:

  • Academy of the Sacred Heart
  • Brother Rice High School
  • Cranbrook Schools
  • Detroit Country Day
  • Marian High School
  • Roeper Lower and Upper School
  • St. Hugo of the Hills School

Nearby districts like Birmingham, Troy and West Bloomfield are also closed.

It is the third official snow day of the year in Bloomfield Hills, all three coming since Jan. 28.

A winter weather advisory extends into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. While the snow will lighten up Wednesday morning and temperatures will hover just above freezing, that means the snow that does accumulate will be heavy and wet.

Up to another inch of snowfall is possible Wednesday night, and the chance of snow — less than one inch, though — continues into Thursday, when the high will be near 35 degrees.
