What's Open, Closed in Bloomfield This New Year's Weekend

Hanging out in the Bloomfield area this New Year's weekend? Here's what you might need to know about what's open and when.

 

Municipal services

Bloomfield Township offices will be closed Monday and will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Bloomfield Township treasurer's office will be open today for year-end tax collection. Like Christmas, there will be no interruption in trash pick-up service. Christmas trees can be disposed of by placing them at the curb with your normal household refuse for disposal through Jan. 20, 2012.

All city offices in Bloomfield Hills will be closed today and Monday, Jan. 2 to observe the New Year. Although New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the U.S. Postal Service will observe the holiday and be closed Monday.

Dispatchers with both the Bloomfield Township Police Department and Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety will be on duty to take 911 calls for police and fire emergencies.

Around town

  • The Maple Art Theatre, and will begin showing movies beginning at 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., respectively, on New Year's Day with movies scheduled the rest of the day. Both Birmingham theaters will have fewer show times on New Year's Eve.
  • will be open during its regular hours on New Year's Eve but will be closed on New Year's Day.
  • The Bloomfield Township Public Library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 31 and Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. The Library will reopen on Monday, Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
  • The will not be open on New Year's Eve, as they were in 2010, for their First Night celebration.
