What's Open, Closed This Indepence Day in Bloomfield

The Fourth of July is almost here. Here's what you might need to know.

Independence Day is this Thursday, and while offices are closed and the barbecues are fired up, you still may need to get out and around Bloomfield. Here's what you need to know about what's open and closed.

Municipal Services

Bloomfield Township offices will be closed Thursday, and all city offices in Bloomfield Hills will be closed in observance of the holiday. 

All post office locations will be closed on Independence Day and there will not be any mail delivery or pickup. The post office will reopen for normal business hours on Friday.

Dispatchers with both the Bloomfield Township Police Department and Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety will be on duty to take 911 calls for police and fire emergencies.

Trash collection will be delayed one day for those in Bloomfield Township.

Around Town

  • Library: The Bloomfield Township Public Library will be closed Thursday. The Library will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The virtual library is always available at www.btpl.org.
  • Movies: The Maple Theater will be open Thursday. You can catch all day showings of Much Ado About Nothing, Love is All You Need and Fill the Void. Check the theater website for a complete list of showtimes.
