2013 Corn Roast - An annual "Family Friendly" event!

2013 Corn Roast at Charles L. Bowers School Farm

“Time to be corny!” quips songwriter Robert Dempster,  eager to perform
again at this year’s annual Corn Roast with fellow musicians, Tony Bernardo on guitar, Michael Ogurek on vibes and, special guest performer,  16-year-old songstress, Montana Taube White.  Robert’s group always adds a special flavor to this annual event,  featuring Isaias, “The Corn Guy,” Uribe’s famous roasted corn on the cob (sold every Sunday at the Birmingham Farmer’s Market) and the ubiquitous, blue “Franks Etc.” truck, (formerly Franks’Anatra,) known for serving some of the best hot dogs in Michigan!  ”Frank,” himself, is  somewhat of a good luck charm, since he has helped celebrate Preservation Bloomfield’s success from the very day the house was moved, back on July 15, 2008.  Other returning favorites are Brian Ciupka of Masqueradiance, renowned muralist/face painter, ready to decorate kids and courageous adults alike and photographer Bill Bertakis, camera in hand, will instantly record your family’s good time for posterity.  A new attraction this year is vendor Rich Wieske of “Green Toe Gardens,” bringing a good supply of local honey and beeswax candles to sell, along with pollen, propolis, bee bread, venom ointment and more…tons of local and Michigan honeys. You will find him located near the(Barton) Farmhouse Antiques, open this year with an array of antiques for sale, plus consignment items.  If you wish to add something to the consignment list, contact Luba Hotra at 248-260-7360 or email her at Hotra Luba@gmail.com for more information.  If you have attended before, you know that our crowd grows each year, so invite your friends and neighbors for a taste of old-fashioned fun—including wagon rides and a barn tour to pet the animals—all taking place at one of only three school-run farms in the nation, right here in your own backyard.

Tickets are $20/adult, $5/kids 12 and tots under 2 are FREE.  Reservations are necessary!  Call Pam Williams at: 248-705-8025 to reserve your tickets or email her at: cornroast.bloomfield@gmail.com.   Seating is limited, so bring along a picnic blanket or folding chair, just in case you arrive a little late.  We’ll leave a light on for you!
