Feature Photos: Gazebo Sale Raises Funds For Friends of Bowers Farm, Preservation Bloomfield

Weekend treasure sale in historic gazebo nets more than $2,300 for historic preservation.

The Friends of Preservation Bloomfield raised more than $2,300 for restoration of the Barton Farm House and other local historic preservation efforts at their annual barn and gazebo last weekend. It was the most successful treasure sale for the organization yet under the leadership of Bloomfield Hills resident Mary Lou Kopmeyer, and bodes well for another sale next year, said volunteer organizer Pat Hardy, a . The leftover items were all donated to the upcoming later this month.

Hardy said the proceeds from Saturday's sale will help the organization's effort to secure a temporary certificate of occupancy for the Barton Farmhouse in August.

"Our first Gazebo Sale netted a profit of $600, so we’re getting better at this with every year, and it is really fun working with the Friends of the Farm," Hardy said. "The setting is the most unique feature of our joint event, and a true 'friend-raiser.'"
