The Honorable James J. Blanchard, former Governor of Michigan, and others for their work on poverty alleviation at Salute America

Pontiac, Mich.

-- In honor of the mothers in the Lighthouse of Oakland County's PATH program who are working to secure a better life for themselves and their children, volunteers on the Board of Directors of Lighthouse PATH present Salute America on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Oakland Hills Country Club.  Lighthouse PATH helps women and their children who are on the verge of, or have become homeless, on their path back to self-sufficiency.  Lighthouse Chief Development Officer Priscilla Perkins said, "We believe one of the best ways to celebrate our nation's birthday is to recognize people who have made tremendous, selfless contributions to fellow Americans in need," she said.

WHO:  Honorary Co-Chairs Debbie and The Honorable John Dingell, Danialle and Pete Karmanos and Event Co-Chairs Laurie Horvath and Rebecca Sorensen will honor worthy community leaders.

The Honorable James J. Blanchard, Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Michigan Governor and U.S. Representative. 

 

Rhonda Walker, founder of Rhonda Walker Foundation, and WDIV Local 4 Morning News Anchor. The Rhonda Walker Foundation was founded in 2003 with a mission to empower inner city teen girls toward be coming strong confident, successful and moral future leaders. 

 

100+ Women Who Care Motown featuring founders Karen Rashid Balow, Nancy Sullivan and Molly Williams. Launched in December, 2011, 100 + Women Who Care Motown followed 100+ Women Who Care Jackson, which was started in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan as a brilliantly simple way to raise money efficiently and quickly for local charities.

Lighthouse of Oakland County is a 42-year old non-profit organization with locations at 46156 Woodward Ave. in Pontiac and 6330 Sashabaw Road in Clarkston, Michigan.
