Feature Photos: Bloomfield Community Celebrates Winter Fest

Snow wasn't necessary, but gave Sunday's celebration at true winter feel, organizers said.

Dozens of families helped celebrate winter in Bloomfield by attending Sunday at the Charles L. Bowers School Farm.

Parents and children from the Bloomfield Hills Schools and beyond joined in scavenger hunts, crafts and even "pony" rides with Jack, a Belgian Draft Horse. But don't be fooled, the rides weren't just for the kids.

"We like using the draft because then adults who also would like a "pony" ride not only get to have a pony ride, but have something special by being on a draft horse, which does not happen too often," wrote Maura Jung in an e-mail. Jung is co-chair of the Friends of Bowers Farm, which sponsored the event.
