Does the flu scare you? Have you gotten a flu shot?

I NEVER get a flu shot... Well, almost never. The two times I have gotten one in my 70+ years of existence resulted in, if not the flu, at least instances of being very sick for a couple weeks afterwards. This is not to say that I don't take reasonable precautions...like staying out of big crowds in enclosed very warm places, washing my hands constantly, and trying to keep my distance from others who are coughing or sneezing. The fact that younger people are seemingly bigger targets for this year's flu seems to suggest that at long last there is a benefit to being old. And the benefit is no doubt some immunity for those of us who survived bad cases of flu like illnesses in the past. I remember being really sick with flu in winter 1959 and winter 1969. I would like to encourage all the 20,30,40 year olds to get immunized while they still can. Obviously this year's flu is a major illness with very serious consequences for that age group as well as for anyone of any age with compromised immune systems or other health issues.
