Power of Seven/ did you know?

Just wanted to respond to the comments on my recent Patch blog and say more.  The $7200 bill will be assessed over 15 years..or may be paid off earlier.  Hopefully the roads will still be in good shape after 15 years!
As for voting or not voting for the elected positions in the Township..... ALL SEVEN  ran unopposed last November 2012.  Not even one Democratic challenger or any other party.   All seven positions are for 4 years.  Will there be ANYONE in 2016 to challenge them? I hope so.  However, those new challengers  MUST BE PREPARED to do so by the end of 2015... to meet the deadlines of submitting petitions in early 2016, to get on the Aug. Primary ballot and the Nov. ballot 2016.
What has happened for most positions in the Township for decades... is someone resigns or otherwise leaves the position and the Township "appoints" a chosen person to fill the remaining term...thus keeping the Board makeup to their liking.  That person then usually puts their name on the ballot at the next election.
In 2011 when Dave Payne "retired" early... I believe the limiting of just two Board members to replace him... was illegal.  There should have been the opportunity for others in the community to apply and be considered.
My goal and attempts since 2010 when I started writing my blogs about the Township...     http://bloomfieldtwphappenings.blogspot.com/
is to get an open and transparent government. The elected 7 people... continue to do what they "think"  YOU want... and the public just accepts that... mainly because not many speak  up and/or  a minority of the voters do not show up at the meetings or the polls.  "Silence"  or just plain apathy from the public  seem to represent  to  the seven as a message that means everything they are doing is OK.  But there are things that are done... that is not OK with me. What about you?  How do you feel about other issues?
Why do the employees work 4 days?  Because the 7 said so.
Why don't you know when and how many vehicles are purchased for employees?  Because the 7 keeps it that way.
Why don't you see the ZBA or Planning Commission meetings as archived audio/video?  Because the 7 don't want those meetings recorded.  Hmmm.
Why is the Design Review Board just 3 members made up of the Supervisor, Treasurer and Clerk?  Because the township wrote the ordinance giving them that power.
Why is there no contact email for the Trustees on their website so you can contact them about an issue?  The 7 keep it that way.
Why don't you see in the Board Packets language for contracts, payroll and vouchers details?  Because the 7 feel they don't have to.
Why do the 7 "opt out" every DEC.  of a state law that would require more contributions from employees for health care?  Because the 7 gave a 6 year contract to all employees and the law says...one MAY wait until the contract expires.  Well, the township most likely (because it was made public) knew the opt out clause was available...and opened the employee contracts early to extend them to 6 year deals...with wage openers 2x ... and they recently exercised that wage opener this past April by giving all employees a 2 % raise.
I could go on... and on... and on.
