Another Mail Theft and More Larcenies Reported in Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield Township Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are investigating another theft of mail from a street-side mailbox, according to reports.

A resident in the 5000 Block of Van Ness came to the police station on Aug. 10 to report that someone stole a letter out of his mailbox, but left behind other outgoing mail. There were no witnesses to this incident. Police continue to urge residents not to use mailboxes outside their residences for bill paying due to a high number of mail-theft reports this year.

More than a dozen incidents have been reported since January and the department issued warnings on at least three different occasions.
