Armed Robbers Tie Up Family in Bloomfield Township Home Invasion

The family of six was shaken, but unharmed by masked men that burst into the home after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are looking for any information that may help identify two men that tied a family up as they robbed the home on the township's west side Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the the 3000 Block of Manchester Court at about 11 p.m. for a possible home invasion in progress and found the front door wide open, reports said.

The officers searched the house for suspects, who were believed gone, and found six family members who said they were tied up prior to the officer's arrival. The victims, representing three generations of the family between ages 6 and 63, were shaken, but did not need medical attention, reports said.

The family members said two men wearing face masks and black clothing entered through an unlocked door and rounded them up in a bedroom where they were tied up. One of the men had a gun and the other had a pair of scissors, reports said.

The intruders ransacked the house and stole more than $100,000 worth of cash and jewelry, investigator said.

The intruder with a silver handgun was described as 6-feet tall with a skinny build. The other man was shorter. Both wore hats, black hoodies and black pants, and further physical descriptions were unavailable.

Police said it's likely the men fled to a vehicle parked nearby.
