Bad Checks Passed at Long Lake Market; Shoplifting at Best Buy in Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield Township Police Department provided the following information.


Detectives with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are investigating a series of fraudulent checks that were recently cashed at the Long Lake Market, reports said.

On Dec. 2, an employee told police that the store received multiple notices that a number of payroll checks with the company's name were cashed all over the area. The checks were not valid. No further details were available.

Identity Theft

A resident in the 6000 Block of Wing Lake Road reported that someone filed a false 2012 federal tax return with his personal information. No suspect information ias available and the investigation has been turned over to the Internal Revenue Service.

Walk Away at Best Buy

Officers responded to Best Buy for a reported retail fraud on Dec. 2, police reports said. A store employee told police that a woman entered the store, put about $1,500 worth of merchandise into a shopping bag and left without paying. A car starter and headphones were among the items taken, reports said. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video footage to identify the suspect, but they did not images or a detailed description.
