Bloomfield Township Police Blotter: Home Invasion, Retail Fraud, Suspicious Person

Also, a Porsche key was found near Kensington and Charring Cross. If you've lost your key, it's at the Bloomfield Township police station.

The following activity has been reported by the Bloomfield Township Police Department:

Home Invasion: 300 block of W. Hickory Grove, July 18 – Officers responded to the 300 block of W. Hickory Grove on a report of a Home Invasion.  The homeowners advised they were gone from the house from 1145-1255 and during this time an unknown individual/s broke into the home.  Jewelry was taken from the home.  Anyone having any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248 433-7755.  This matter has been turned over to the Investigations Division.     

Retail Fraud: 2343 Telegraph, Costco, July 18 – On July 18, officers responded to the Costco on a report of a Retail Fraud.  Loss prevention informed officers that a w/m, in his 20’s, wearing blue shorts and a gray shirt had stolen a bottle of alcohol.  He was seen on video taking the alcohol off the shelf.  He then exited the business and was standing outside looking suspicious.  When a Costco employee went to speak with him, he got in a car and left the area.  Officers were able to get plate information from the vehicle that fled the scene.  This incident has been turned over to the Investigations Division.

Found Property: Kensington/ Charring Cross, July 20 – A Porsche key was turned into the police department on July 20th.  The reporting party told officers that they found the key in the roadway at Kensington / Charring Cross.  There was no further information.  Anyone having information or who may have lost a key please contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248 433-7755.

Suspicious Person: 4000 block of Maple, July 16 – Officers were dispatched to the area of 4000 W. Maple on a Suspicious Person.  Officers were informed that a 35 year old, Middle Eastern male, 6’0”, 200 pounds wearing a black headband, gray nylon pants and a Black “Harley Davidson” sweatshirt, was seen taking pictures of the children on the tennis courts.  A citizen talked to the subject and he said he was not from here, he was just working.  The subject left on foot.  Anyone having any information regarding this incident should contact the Bloomfield Township Police at 248 433-7755.

Larceny from Auto: 100 West Hickory Grove, July 22 – At 11:30 pm officers were dispatched to the condo complex at 100 West Hickory Grove.  A resident saw a subject, who he did not know, sitting inside the resident’s vehicle going through the center console.  When officers arrived both parties were waiting in the parking lot for them.

The subject said a friend told him to look through the car for the friend’s cell phone.  Officers checked the subject’s pockets and found several small items that were stolen from the vehicle.  Subject was then arrested for “larceny from auto.”

Officers recognized the subject from an incident one month earlier where he was also arrested for breaking into a vehicle and claimed to be looking for a friend’s cell phone.

The subject was charged with a misdemeanor “tampering with motor vehicle.”  He was arraigned on 07/23/14 at the 48th district court. His pretrial is set for July 30.
