Bloomfield Township Robbery Suspect Expected in Court

Aws Naser is accused of using pepper spray on a gas station clerk and then robbing him on New Year's Day.

A Westland man is expected to appear in 48th District Court in Bloomfield Township today for a preliminary hearing on accusations that he robbed a gas station he once worked at, records show.

Aws Naser, 24, faces one count of armed robbery for the Jan. 1 attack on the clerk at the the Mobil station at 1501 S. Opdyke Rd. Bloomfield Township police officers said he entered the store at about 10:45 p.m. and sprayed the clerk with pepper spray, reports said. He then allegedly robbed the employee and fled in an unknown direction. No serious injuries were reported.

Investigators were able to identify the assailant as Naser, who was described in reports as an ex-employee. Further details were unavailable.

Officers went to Naser's Westland home the following day and arrested him without incident, according to reports. He remains in the Oakland County Jail Thursday morning on $2 million bond, records show.
