Driver Ditches Stolen Car in Bloomfield Township; Golling Chrysler Targeted

Bloomfield Township police seek two men suspected in separate crimes involving vehicles.

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department are investigating two different reports of successful and attempted car theft that occurred this week.

The first incident unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 as a patrol officer tried to stop a 2008 Mercedes Benz that was driving erratically on southbound Telegraph near Andover, reports said. The driver sped up and pulled into the Cross of Christ Church parking lot, where he jumped out of the car and ran off.

Officers chased him and called for a K-9 unit to track the man after he entered a wooded area. They did not find him.

Further investigation showed the vehicle was stolen earlier that day in Pontiac.
Officers described as a black and in his late teens to early twenties. He was between 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 inches tall with a thin build, and wore black shorts and a black t-shirt.

Drive-Off Averted at Golling

Employees at Golling Chrysler called police on Aug. 27 after a man who appeared to be a potential car buyer tried to walk away with a set of keys to a new vehicle.

The man told a salesperson that he was interested in a new Chrysler 300 and a Chrysler Charger SRT8, reports said. The salesperson showed the two vehicles, and the man then asked about used cars. While the salesperson checked on used cars, the man reportedly took the keys to the Charger SRT8 and headed out the door.

The salesperson noticed the keys were missing and confronted the subject
before he reached the lot and got them back. The man then ran off.

He was described as black, about 6-feet-1 inch tall and 200 pounds, and wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans and a ball cap, reports said.

Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to
call the department at 248-433-7752.
