Intruders May Have Known Victims in Bloomfield Township Home Invasion

Police indicated that the intruders knew about a recent wedding in the family that was tied up during the robbery Wednesday.

The men that tied up a Bloomfield Township family during an armed robbery Wednesday may have known their victims, wxyz.com reported.

The intruders asked about money from a recent wedding after they rounded up the family of six and tied them together in a bedroom in the 3000 block of Manchester Court. The men stole more than $100,000 in jewelry and cash after ransacking the house.

The victims, ages 6 through 63, were not hurt. They were unable to give detectives with the Bloomfield Township Police Department very detailed physical descriptions because the men wore face masks and were dressed in all black, officials said. However, that they mentioned the recent family wedding stood out to investigators, Channel 7 reported.

Family members told officers the men entered through an unlocked door at about 11 p.m. and that one was armed with a handgun. The other man had scissors. They fled to a vehicle likely parked on Wabeek Lake Drive or Manchester Court.

Investigators are looking for any leads and encouraged anyone with information or that may have seen anything suspicious in that neighborhood recently to call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
