Bloomfield Township

A Harrison Township woman faces fraud charges following her arrest for allegedly trying to cash a fraudulent check, Bloomfield Township Police Department reports said.

Natasha Haney, 22, was arraigned in 48th District Court last week on one count of uttering and publishing, a felony punishable by up to 14 years in prison, police said. Officers arrested her on Nov. 5 at the Comerica Bank branch at 3910 Telegraph Road, after bank employees alerted them to a suspicious woman that tried to pass a check.

She was arrested without incident and remained at the Oakland County Jail on $10,000 bond Friday, records show.

Malicious Destruction of Property

A resident of the Fox Hills Condominiums reported that three of tires on her vehicle were slashed on Nov. 1, police reports said. It was unclear when the damage occurred and there are no suspects.

Bloomfield Township police officers also responded to the condominiums in the 600 block of E. Fox Hills Dr. last week after multiple vehicles were damaged in catalytic converter thefts. No suspect information is available.

In a separate incident on Nov. 5, officers on night patrol responded to the Dollar Tree at 2215 Telegraph Road after a citizen reported seeing it smashed as they drove by. The officers determined no one gained entry to the store and store employees later confirmed nothing was stolen, police reports said. It is unknown if the damage was intentional or accidental.

Bloomfield Hills

A resident from the 100 block of Hickory Grove Rd. went to the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety on Nov. 1 to report nearly $2,800 of computer hardware purchases to an unauthorized bank account in her name, reports said. The woman said she discovered that day that the merchandise was ordered from an account she never established. She also learned she had been denied a credit card she never asked for, and that her bank was prepared to send a Western Union transfer of $750 to a person she didn’t know, reports said.

The fraudulent activity began on Oct. 23, but further details about how her information was compromised was unavailable. The woman cancelled all the transactions and the investigation is ongoing.

Cranbrook Death Investigation

Chief Rick Matott said no new information was available regarding the sudden death of Cranbrook student Caleb Lei last month. The investigation remains ongoing between the department and the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office.
